I would like to talk about some recreation we participated in today. We attended the Long Beach Island Fishing Clubs 70th Annual World Series of Fishing today. While the fish weren’t active and the weather windy and wet, it was a very well run and enjoyable experience. I would recommend anyone interested in participating in a local event to check it out next year. Long Beach Island is about an hour and 40 minutes away in nearby NJ. The registration fee was modest at $15 per individual and $60 for a team, up to 6 members.
The club used multiple locations along the beach and had a section for those with vehicles that could drive onto the beach. Make sure you can make it through as I heard a tow comes at a cost of $500. Tournament included 5 hours of fishing with a one hour break in between where they served free hot lunch at the club at the conclusion followed by a rewards ceremony and door prizes.
Special thanks to Bill’s Surf and Tackle located at 6332 Long Beach Blvd, Harvey Cedars New Jersey just about 3 blocks from the club. They were very helpful in helping me find the proper tackle and bait for the tournament. Staff was very friendly and truly took an interest in helping us with the right tackle and bait.
